Unveiling the World of Fashion: Our Story and Philosophy
Rick Bailey is a renowned fashion designer and tailor, born in the Parish of Portland, Jamaica. From a young age, Rick was fascinated by the sewing machine, drawing parallels between operating it and driving a car. His passion for fashion was nurtured by his older brothers, David and Michael Bailey, who were also fashion designers and businessmen.
The Bailey Brothers started their journey in the fashion industry through domestic tailoring in the Buff Bay Valley, Portland. Recognizing the potential for a successful career, they opened their first tailoring business in the urban Buff Bay area in the 1990s. They catered to a clientele consisting of professionals such as lawyers, doctors and entrepreneurs, crafting exquisite suits. Rick closely observed his older brothers, learning and absorbing their skills and knowledge.
During his time at Buff Bay High School, Rick chose clothing and textile as his vocational area. Despite being the only male student in a class of 23, he excelled, surprising his peers. His passion for tailoring grew stronger, and by the end of his course, even his clothing and textile teacher became his personal client. Rick's love for tailoring transformed into fine art as he discovered the beauty of the craft.
In 1998 Rick opened his 1st tailor shop in Kingston Jamaica Called Rick B’s Fashion where he built a large clientele of Entertainers such as Singing Melody, Pinchers Bandelero and much more; TV host such as Deiwght Peters of The Deiwght Peters show, Governor Generals such as Sir Patrick Allen and much more. Following his brother's relocation to England, Rick pursued an opportunity to enhance his craftsmanship at a higher level. In 2002, he made the decisive move to England and returned to Jamaica two years later, honing his skills and expertise in tailoring.
In 2013, Rick Bailey made the life-changing decision to migrate to the United States. It was then that he established Rick Bailey Design International. Upon arriving in the US, Rick connected with Angela Taylor, an experienced tailor from Italy in New Jersey who was looking to sell her tailor shop. Recognizing the opportunity, Rick purchased the shop, promising to preserve Angela's legacy while pursuing his dreams as a designer. Within three months, he took over the tailor shop completely and rebranded it as Rick Bailey Design International .
Over the next six years, Rick's business flourished, and he acquired another location in the heart of New York City's garment district. With three thriving locations, in Hackensack New Jersey, Manhattan New York, and Kingston Jamaica, Rick's reach in tailoring became global.
Being a fashion Designer has taught me to be Agile, Flexible, and most importantly Customer focused. I value customer relationships and appreciate ever customer to walk thought my doors. So much so that I consider myself to be their one stop shop for all sewing needs. Providing a wide range of services such as, Custom Tailoring for men women and children, Bespoke suit tailoring, Couture Evening Gown, Expert Alterations, Pattern Drafting, Product Development, and Styling tips and tricks… Servicing a diverse clientele ranging from Bride & Groom to Fashion Designers seeking small and large product developments, Entertainers such as a Jack Paul to prominent lawyers and doctors across the United States. No job is too big or too small for Rick Bailey Design. With one stitch at a time and keen attention to detail I will bring you dream to life.
When it comes to his perspective on fashion, Rick takes an eclectic approach. He embraces a fusion of styles, drawing inspiration from various sources to create unique and personalized designs.
